Tattoo Art: As Skin Decorations

With the internet and computers becoming used all the time by virtually everyone, tattoo pictures have become a form of digital decoration. People will use a tattoo picture for their Facebook image, as a screen saver or as the background for their desktop. This is tattoo art design at its best, as perfectly symmetrical images can be created using powerful software, and a level of detail impossible to reproduce on the human body can be created for use on the computer.
Religious and spiritual tattoos have been around for a long time, and the use of tattoo pictures to represent a belief system can be found in many different designs. While cross tattoos have been used for many years to symbolize a belief in Christianity, other religious groups have also used images to express not only their religion but also their individual belief systems. Many cross designs in churches are more intricate than the simple cross. Shrines, temples, and even totem poles have always had images with meaning etched into material, such as wood or even silver and gold.
With our North American society changing and accepting body tattoos, tattoo pictures will be used more frequently in other forms of expression. Tattoo picture design has branched out into the mainstream of society through computers.
